Harding University
Class of 2013

Even before Emilio Espino was selected as a Walton International scholar, he had a clear vision of what he wanted to do with his life. For as long as the Panama native can remember, he'd been fascinated by electrical engineering, but sought more than the theoretical teaching available in his homeland. At Harding University, Espino has found the hands-on experience he believes he needs to inject the industry in Panama with new ideas.

"I'm starting to see a much bigger picture. I already know I'm not the same boy I was when I came here." – Emilio Espino

Sometimes it's the little things that make all the difference in the world. For Eric Carles, that's absolutely been the case. When asked about the impact the Walton International Scholarship Program has had on his life, Carles was quick to point to the "endless books and resources" available to him through the University of the Ozarks Library. Many students may take such resources for granted, but for Carles, who aspires to become a corporate lawyer, it had been the missing ingredient.
